Congratulations Mr. Tommy Willis!



Mr. Tommy Willis, music teacher at Macon County Elementary School, is the 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year for the Macon County School System.  Mr. Willis is from Proctorville, OH and is the eldest of three sons of the late Tommy Willis and Iva Willis.


Mr. Willis graduated from Marshall University, in Huntington, WV in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, (K-12).  He was Director of Instrumental Music of the Fairland Local School District in Proctorville, OH from 1985 to 1987.  Mr. Willis attended Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA and graduated with a Masters of Music in 1989.  He was Director of Music for the J.U. Blacksher School in Uriah, AL from 1989-1990.  Mr. Willis has been an elementary music teacher in the Macon County School System for the past 25 years.


Mr. Willis is the current President for the Macon County Association of Educators and has been selected for Who’s Who in American Teaching twice.  He is married to Janet Clark Willis of Montezuma, GA.  Mr. and Mrs. Willis are the proud parents of five children.
