MCES Presents Hosie Waters Courage Award

In the Spring of 2005, our former principal, Gail Smith created the Hosie Waters Courage Award. She created this award to honor those who displayed the same great courage Mr. Waters showed during his many years as Macon County Schools Superintendent.  This award is not given every year and can be given to a student or faculty member.  It is only given when a person shows an extreme amount of courage and keeps their head up when life gives them every reason to give up.  Macon County Elementary School was so thankful and appreciative that Mr. Waters presented the award to Kayla Parker; first grader in Mrs. Miller’s class. This precious, vivacious little girl has kept a smile on her face and encouraged those around her.  She refuses to give up and is determined to kick cancer!  She keeps her family going and gives them courage to make it through each day. She has had many tough days, but never gives in.  She is truly a fighter in every sense of the word.

Mrs. Daniel, School Counselor, presented Kayla with $202 raised by the faculty, staff, and students of Macon County Elementary.  The staff members hope this donation can help with expenses.  Kayla, MCES loves you!!!
