Macon County School System is proud to announce that Chief Holcomb has been named the MCSS Teacher of the Year.

Holcomb was recognized during a district-wide celebration held at Oasis Coffee House on the evening of May 21, 2026. Now in his third year as a teacher, Holcomb came to MCSS after retiring from a 20-year career in the U.S. Navy.
Since joining MCSS, Holcomb has helped lead the NJROTC program into one of the top units in the state. Under his leadership, student participation in the program has far exceeded the percentages seen in many other school districts, reflecting both the strength of the program and the positive impact it has had on students.
During the celebration, MCHS students and staff honored Chief Holcomb through a special tribute video shared at the event, highlighting the respect, admiration, and appreciation he has earned throughout the school community.
MCSS congratulates Chief Holcomb on this well-deserved honor and thanks him for his continued dedication, leadership, and service to the students of Macon County.
