Macon County Elementary School successfully completed its scheduled active intruder drill today.
We saw excellent coordination among 911 dispatch, the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, Oglethorpe Police Department, Montezuma Police Department, Macon County School System Police, and MCSS faculty and staff. Officers established a perimeter, cleared the area outside the building and the nearby woodline, then entered the school and apprehended the person portraying the intruder in a timely manner. Teachers and students followed safety protocols throughout the drill.
